Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the X67BC7321 remote I/O module within the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. Designed for decentralized machine control, the device aggregates digital sensor and actuator signals and places them directly on a CAN-based fieldbus network. Its role in automation is to reduce cabinet wiring by bringing protected IP67 electronics to the machine frame while converting discrete inputs for the controller and sourcing power back out to connected transducers. This distributed layout also helps keep signal paths short when sensors are mounted across guarded or moving sections of a machine.
The module operates from a nominal supply of 24 VDC, and it draws 2.1 W from the internal bus for its logic functions. Eight discrete points are available, and they are configured as 8 digital input channels that follow IEC 1131 Type 1 electrical characteristics and use a sink configuration to reference sensors to the module’s common return. For high-speed applications, the CAN I/O interface supports a maximum transfer rate of 1 Mbit/s, while the internal counter implemented on each channel has a 16-bit width for basic event tallying. Electrical separation between the field side and the bus side is secured through 500 Veff of input-bus isolation to limit common-mode disturbances and help keep network-side electronics separated from field wiring influences.
The fully encapsulated housing achieves IP67 ingress protection, allowing direct mounting on tooling without additional enclosures. Communication can be extended up to 1000 m when the network is wired with compliant cabling and repeaters at reduced baud rates. To energize proximity sensors, the module supplies sensor current, and system expansion over the proprietary X2X link is budgeted at 3 W of auxiliary power. The compact body measures 42 mm deep, 53 mm wide, and 85 mm high, so it can fit into tight mounting spaces near valves, sensors, or other field devices where local I/O placement is useful.
