Mounted directly on machinery, it extends decentralized I/O for motion, safety, and process control networks across distributed machine sections. It bridges sensors and actuators to a PROFIBUS backbone, supplying local signal conversion while withstanding harsh plant environments. By combining power distribution and protocol handling in a single IP-rated body, it reduces cabinet wiring and shortens installation time.

Incoming logic and load power are fed by the module’s 24 VDC nominal supply, and up to 63 additional X67 stations can be daisy-chained without loss of timing. Sixteen digital channels permit mixed input and output assignment, while two integrated event counters record edge changes at a 50 kHz rate for position or flow monitoring. The dedicated X2X backplane refreshes process data every 400 µs, so the host controller receives real-time status updates.
