The X67BC6321 is an I/O module manufactured by B & R Automation for installation in distributed control architectures. Belonging to the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series, it collects digital signals, switches connected loads, and relays process data over remote fieldbus links. Placing the electronics directly on the machine reduces cabinet wiring and simplifies cable routes, which is often required in industrial automation cells with decentralized I/O stations. This layout also places signal handling closer to field devices, which can help shorten cable runs between sensors, actuators, and the control system.
This model offers automatic and full configuration support, allowing a controller to detect and parameterize the channels without manual switch settings. Sensor and actuator lines terminate on compact M8 connectors that suit the module's IP67 housing. The module provides 8 digital channels that can be individually set as inputs or outputs. Each output stage is rated at 24 VDC 0.5 A, so resistive or inductive loads up to that limit can be driven directly. To improve signal clarity in electrically noisy areas, every input can use a configurable filter that suppresses short transients before the data are reported to the controller. Network communication is handled through a single PROFIBUS DP interface that links the module to higher-level PLCs at standard baud rates.
Two integrated event counters process encoder or flow sensor pulses at 2 × 50 kHz, making the module suitable for rapid feedback tasks without additional hardware. That allows fast pulse sources to be captured locally instead of being routed to a separate counter unit. The internal supply rails can carry 4 A, which is sufficient to feed the channel outputs and the local electronics from a shared 24 V trunk. Only 3 W are drawn from the X2X link to power the communication and diagnostic circuits, so thermal load remains low even in sealed enclosures. These power limits support shared power and signal wiring in daisy-chain layouts across the machine.
