Product Description:
The X67BC5321 is an I/O head station developed by B&R Automation for the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. It anchors a distributed block of machine-mounted electronics by translating sensor and actuator signals to the control system over a single fieldbus. Housed in a sealed enclosure, it starts the local expansion chain, routes power to subsequent slices, and forwards process data to the network master, allowing compact, cabinet-free installation in production cells, conveyors, and packaging equipment. Placing the station near the machine shortens field wiring and helps keep installation layouts orderly.
This module carries a protection rating of IP67, which allows direct exposure to dust, oils, and washdown spray. It integrates 8 digital channels that can be configured as inputs or outputs, allowing mixed-signal points at the line side. Network access is provided through DeviceNet on an M12 A-coded connector, and telegrams move across the bus at up to 500 kbit/s. Internal electronics and the downstream slices are supplied from a nominal 24 VDC source that enters through a separate power feed. A 53 mm body width conserves mounting space, while an additional M12 B-coded socket exposes the X2X link so the station can forward its local data to a neighboring cluster without extra junction boxes.
The internal expansion bus updates process images every 1 ms, enabling deterministic response when machine sequences demand tight timing. Up to 39 remote slices can trail the head, and as many as 16 of them may be analog modules for temperature, voltage, or current measurement. Each sensor or actuator connected to the block may draw as much as 0.5 A, so the connected load must stay within the available supply capacity. This arrangement supports local connections for sensors, valves, and other small devices mounted along the machine frame.
