Product Description:
The X67AI2744 is an analog input module produced by B & R Automation within the X67 Analog Input Output Modules series. It is intended for decentralized installation on machines where compact sensor acquisition must survive washdown areas, and it forwards measured values to a central controller through the series’ fieldbus network. By accepting strain gauge signals and digitizing them close to the sensing point, the module reduces noise pickup and simplifies wiring in automated assembly lines, presses, and material testing rigs.
The unit communicates over a X2X Link backplane, so sampling data and power are transferred on the same hybrid cable without additional bus couplers. Each of its 2 input channels is wired for a full-bridge strain gauge, allowing direct connection of load cells that need bridge excitation. Internally, the signals are converted with 24-bit resolution, which yields fine load granularity and minimizes quantization error in closed-loop tension or force control. Bridge excitation is supplied at 10 V, the voltage most common to industrial weighing transducers, so external regulators are unnecessary. Mechanical size remains limited to 53 × 42 × 85 mm, letting the device fit beside other X67 slices in confined spaces.
An encapsulated housing rated at IP67 blocks dust ingress and withstands high-pressure water jets, enabling installation on moving tooling or conveyor frames without additional enclosures. Up to 253 modules can share a single line, giving room for future expansion. The permissible span between stations reaches 100 m, so sensors may be mounted far from the main cabinet while still using the native network. Field wiring is made through a M12, B-Keyed connector, which locks with a quarter turn and preserves shielding around the differential signal pair.
