Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the X20ZF0000 for its X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The unit is a placeholder component that occupies a slot when no active electronics are required, preserving the spacing and addressing of adjacent I/O modules inside decentralized control racks. By matching the mechanical outline of functional modules, the dummy keeps the backplane sealed and the wiring layout orderly. This is useful during phased machine expansions or when spare positions must remain reservable in industrial automation systems.
Physically, the front cage matches the standard X20 connection geometry, so the housing accepts either 6-pin and 12-pin spring clamp blocks. This compatibility extends to the dedicated X20TB06 and X20TB12 terminal blocks, allowing uninterrupted daisy-chain wiring across mixed stations. When snapped onto the backplane, the module maintains the system’s ingress rating of IP20, which is suitable for protected control cabinets. The enclosure withstands shocks up to 15 g during transport or machine indexing, and its molded base tolerates continuous plant-floor vibration of 1 g without contact fretting. The matching connection geometry also helps preserve a consistent terminal layout across the station.
As a Dummy Module, the X20ZF0000 carries no user I/O channels and has no active function. Its insulation distances conform to Overvoltage Category II, meaning it can be connected to circuits supplied from the facility power system through downstream protective devices. Installation is limited to control cabinets, and the passive board sustains full performance up to 2000 m altitude without derating. Terminal sockets are keyed at 24 VDC to prevent insertion of higher-voltage feed blocks. Because the carrier bus is bridged internally, the placeholder sustains address continuity while allowing reserved slots for future analog, digital, or safety modules.
