Product Description:
The X20XC0292 is a programmable controller module built by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The unit acts as the local brain inside a slice-based I/O node, executing control logic and forwarding data to a master or peer network. By combining processing, real-time clocking, and an Ethernet interface in a compact housing, it enables deterministic machine sequencing in conveyor lines, packaging cells, and other distributed automation panels.
An RJ45 shielded connector exposes the module’s single Ethernet port and supports the 100BASE-TX physical layer, allowing deterministic exchanges at the rated 100 m segment length without fiber conversion. Inside the controller, an embedded µP25 CPU closes its instruction pipeline every 0.5 µs, while the cyclic task scheduler finishes user code in 2 ms, matching motion positioning or high-speed packaging demands. Data moves across the wire at a 100 Mbit/s transfer rate, and electrical demand stays within 2.8 W, simplifying power budgeting on 24 VDC rail assemblies. At a width of 62.5 mm, the carrier footprint remains consistent with the rest of the X20 slice family, and two dedicated fieldbus slots allow optional interface cards when additional protocols are required.
For data persistence, the controller offers 3 MB of user FlashPROM for application code, 750 kB of battery-backed SRAM for retentive variables, and 2.75 kB of FRAM for wear-free high-frequency logging. Time stamping of events relies on an RTC with 1 s resolution, ensuring scheduled tasks remain aligned with plant coordination after power cycles. The housing carries an IP20 rating, indicating finger-safe openings while still requiring cabinet installation. The module can store recipe data, audit records, and maintenance counters internally without external memory cards.
