Product Description:
B&R Automation’s X20TB5F belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series and functions as the detachable terminal carrier for a single I/O slice. It bridges field wiring to the internal backplane, permitting quick installation of sensor and actuator lines in compact control cabinets. Because the board uses push-in spring cages, conductors can be seated without tools, which speeds installation and ensures repeatable clamping force for low-voltage automation circuits.
The module maintains a contact resistance of ≤5 mΩ, keeping voltage drop negligible along each path. A horizontal pitch of 4.2 mm separates neighboring pins so high-density routing is possible while preventing creepage issues. Its insulation system tolerates up to 50 VDC, although normal service is tied to a 24 VDC control rail. Every circuit supports 2 A/contact, enabling mixed inductive and resistive loads on the same header. With 16 available pins, the carrier concentrates multiple digital points in one slice and passes them through copper conductors that match the series’ push-in cages. The conductor material is copper for low impedance, and the terminal type is a push-in design that accepts ferruled or solid wires without additional hardware.
The enclosure and terminal geometry set the installation limits. The enclosure carries a IP20 rating, so it must reside inside a protected cabinet yet requires no extra gasketing. Each cage is engineered for a 10 N insertion force, balancing vibration resistance with easy manual release. A vertical pitch of 8.25 mm governs stacking height between modules, leaving room for labeling strips and probe access. Orientation is ensured by the series-standard Safety-Keyed coding, preventing accidental mating with incompatible boards. These dimensions help keep adjacent terminals accessible and support orderly wiring in compact control cabinets.
