Product Description:

The X20TB1E is a push-in terminal block module within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series from B&R Automation. Serving as the wiring interface for X20 slice I/O stations, the unit routes sensor and actuator lines to the backplane electronics of the host node. By using a front-removable terminal strip, field wiring can be exchanged without disturbing the electronics, making the X20TB1E a practical component for modular machine control architectures. Its mechanical design matches the 24 mm wide housing used throughout the platform, so it snaps onto the DIN rail beside power and bus couplers without special tools.

The module distributes the backplane supply to individual sensors through its nominal load circuit of 24 VDC, a level that suits most industrial proximity switches and opto-isolated actuators. For transient tolerance, the insulation spacing is rated for a maximum of 50 VDC, so overvoltage tests up to that point do not damage the contacts. Each of the twelve spring cages can carry 2 A/contact, allowing the terminal to handle mixed loads such as indicator lamps and small pneumatic valves in the same slice. The I/O connector has 12 numbered pins, and the plated surfaces keep the through-path resistance below ≤5 mΩ, which helps minimize thermal rise at continuous current.

A horizontal contact spacing of 4.2 mm and a vertical row spacing of 8.25 mm provide clearance for ferruled leads while keeping the housing narrow. Conductors are clamped with a typical insertion force of 10 N, so rigid or fine-strand copper wires can be terminated without a screwdriver while maintaining secure contact. The module also supports 2 x Pt1000 temperature sensor connections, allowing the control system to capture temperature data through the same slice. This arrangement keeps the wiring compact and avoids the need for an additional connection point for those sensors.
