Product Description:
The X20TB12 terminal block carrier is a pluggable backplane component produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. In an automation rack, this part provides the physical wiring interface between field conductors and the electronic I/O slice that snaps onto it. Its role is to organize signal distribution, maintain reliable contact pressure, and deliver the logic supply that keys the corresponding module so that channel groups can be changed or expanded without rewiring the entire panel. By separating fixed field wiring from removable electronics, the carrier shortens downtime and supports module replacement on lines that run continuously.
Field conductors land on spring contacts that use the Push-In connection method, so stripped wires can be inserted directly without torque tools. A keying pin energized at 24 VDC prevents mating of incompatible modules and also feeds the backplane supply rail. The carrier offers a total pin count of 12, arranged as two staggered rows with 6 positions per row, giving the module a dense footprint for sensor and actuator leads. The double-row geometry results in a physical row count of 2, which allows clear separation between power and signal circuits inside the cabinet.
For maintenance tasks, the terminal strip can be released with a standard Screwdriver, yet routine wiring remains Tool-Free, minimizing wear on contact springs over successive insertions. Terminal labeling is molded In Plastic, so channel numbers remain legible even after exposure to cleaning agents. Prewiring capability and dedicated test probe access allow loop checks on the bench before the carrier is installed, and terminal coding helps avoid cross-connection errors. The removable layout also lets the electronic slice be exchanged without disturbing landed field conductors.
