Product Description:
The X20SO2530 is a relay output slice produced by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Mounted on an X20 backplane, the unit occupies one slot in a distributed I/O island and presents field-side contacts to external actuators while exchanging process data with the central controller over the system bus. By translating digital commands into isolated mechanical contacts, it allows programmable logic controllers to switch power to solenoids, contactors, and signal lamps that require hardwired, voltage-tolerant interfaces inside automated machinery.
This module is specified for a control supply of 24 VDC on the coil side and can also break or make mains loads up to 230 VAC. Both the DC and AC channels are rated for 6 A, giving flexibility to handle inductive or resistive devices that draw similar currents regardless of voltage domain. The output stage uses a sealed relay design, so there is no direct semiconductor path between field wiring and the logic backplane. Two independent contacts are provided, and each channel has one normally open contact, resulting in 2 switching points that can be energized separately. These electrical limits describe the permissible load range and help determine suitable fusing, cable size, and arc-suppression hardware for the installation.
Internal consumption remains low: the communication backplane requires only 0.13 W of bus power, while the coil driver section draws 0.26 W from the I/O supply under nominal conditions. Actuation energy stored and released within the contact assembly contributes to an additional internal I/O demand of 1.15 W. Because the slice does not source field voltage, its sensor / actuator output supply stays at 0.00 W. These modest figures reduce heat dissipation inside compact control cabinets and permit high-density stacking of X20 modules without exceeding backplane current limits or requiring ambient temperature derating.
