Product Description:
X20SO2110 is a safety output slice in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series from B&R Automation. Installed in machine control racks, the module supplies monitored outputs that switch actuators in accordance with safety PLC commands. It integrates into decentralized I/O stations over the series backplane, providing a compact means of enforcing Category 4 / PL e stop functions inside industrial automation cells.
The module is powered from a 24 VDC supply that is internally supervised, and loss of this nominal voltage forces all outputs to a safe state. It provides 2 individually diagnosed channels, enabling independent switching of dual-channel circuits or parallel operation for higher load sharing. Each channel is classified as Safe Type A, meaning the device performs internal diagnostics while external feedback contacts verify switching. Under normal operation, the terminals can source up to 0.5 A, and their switching edges exhibit an 500 µs max OSSD delay. Integrated current monitoring detects short circuits or cross-faults and reports them to the central controller. The output stage is rated for Overvoltage Category II, limiting installation to low-energy control circuits.
The module has a board-level IP20 enclosure, so it must be housed inside a cabinet. In a horizontal installation, it can tolerate temperatures up to 60 °C and will operate from a minimum of 0 °C; a vertical orientation lowers the upper limit to 50 °C because convection is reduced. Relative humidity may rise to 95 % RH without condensation, and functionality is maintained at elevations up to 2000 m. Shock resistance of 15 g and vibration endurance of 1 g help protect the electronics during transport or machine motion. The slim housing also complies with IEC 61131 clearances for installation in industrial control systems.
