Product Description:
The X20SL8110 is a safety-rated interface module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The unit serves as a controlled node in a POWERLINK architecture and distributes safe I/O data through its integrated SafeKEY application memory. By combining local safety processing with standard fieldbus traffic, the module allows decentralized safety logic while keeping wiring to a minimum.
For primary power, the module requires 24 VDC, which energizes both the internal logic and the connected I/O slice. Total energy draw is limited to 3.9 W, so heat generation remains moderate even in dense terminal rows. Network connectivity is implemented through one POWERLINK interface, which operates as the sole real-time channel to the master. Two embedded Ethernet switches expose two hub ports, allowing line or ring cabling without external switches. The electronics are housed in an enclosure with a depth of 85 mm, which lets the module fit on standard DIN rails alongside other X20 terminals. Additional dimensions are 150 mm in width and 99 mm in height, which helps keep panel layouts predictable. The interface electronics draw 0.6 W, and one interface slot is provided for expansion.
When installed in a cabinet, the housing carries an IP20 rating, so it helps block accidental finger contact but still requires a protected location. Resistance to mechanical stress is verified at 15 g of shock and 1 g of vibration, allowing the module to maintain signal integrity on moving machinery or high-cycle production lines. Electrical transients are handled under Overvoltage Category II, which matches typical control-level circuits. This arrangement suits standard industrial control cabinets and supports stable operation of both the safety functions and the fieldbus connection.
