Product Description:
The X20SI8110 is a safety input module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for decentralized installation on an X20 backplane, the unit collects critical discrete signals from light curtains, emergency-stop buttons, and interlock switches so the safety PLC can execute rapid shutdowns when hazards occur. Locating the safe inputs in the field shortens wiring runs and preserves valuable cabinet space in automated production lines. The module also provides a direct connection point for safety-related sensors located near machinery, reducing the amount of field wiring routed back to a central enclosure.
Signal and power conductors terminate on a push-in connector integrated into a 16-pin terminal block, allowing tool-free wiring with ferrules up to the stated 2 × 0.75 mm² sleeve capacity. Each channel uses Type A safety logic, and downstream loads are protected by the module’s internal fuse, which is limited to 10 A. The housing has an IP20 protection rating and occupies a single-width slot on the rack, simplifying dense module arrangements. Four dedicated pulse-test lines deliver a diagnostic voltage of 24 VDC, and these lines can be routed back into higher-level inputs to verify field wiring integrity. The module provides 4 selectable pulse outputs for testing individual sensor loops without external circuitry. Its overvoltage category is II, and its vibration resistance is 1 g, making it suitable for control cabinets mounted on standard factory machinery.
The safety section provides 8 digital input points that the system can use for category-rated monitoring routines. These inputs remain within a safe state as long as their line voltage does not exceed the module’s limit of 60 VDC, supporting operation with extra-low-voltage circuits. During transportation and installation, the electronics withstand mechanical shocks up to 15 g. This shock resistance allows the module to be installed on moving carriages or transported as part of prewired control panels without damage from permitted mechanical loads. Its single-slot format leaves adjacent rack positions available for other input, output, or communication modules in compact control assemblies.
