Product Description:
The X20SC2432 is a safety relay and signal-conditioning module produced by B&R Automation in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on a modular backplane, the unit bridges decentralized sensors and actuators to a higher-level controller through the series fieldbus interface. It combines safe input channels with configurable relay and pulse outputs, allowing machine builders to implement emergency-stop circuits, feedback monitoring, and power switching tasks inside an automation cabinet.
A protection rating of IP20 indicates that the housing prevents finger contact with internal conductors but is not sealed against liquids, so the module must be mounted in a closed panel. The overvoltage design is classified as II, meaning it may be connected only to low-voltage distribution networks. For motion or counting duties, the board offers two pulse outputs; each delivers a sourcing level of 24 VDC and can switch up to 100 kHz into optocoupler or PLC inputs. Power switching is handled by a pair of integrated relays. Each relay uses a 1NO contact and can switch up to 48 VAC, 6 A on AC circuits or 24 VDC, 6 A on DC circuits. These ratings let the relays drive contactors, valves, or lamp stacks without external interposing hardware.
The module has 2 safety input channels, allowing single- or dual-channel wiring. Assigning these inputs to Type A satisfies SIL and PL assessments that do not require cross-monitoring by the module. Mechanical durability is shown by a shock tolerance of 15 g; combined with vibration endurance of 1 g across 10–150 Hz, this supports installation on moving machinery frames. Used with the relay and pulse outputs, the safety inputs can collect feedback, generate clocked control signals, and disconnect power in response to faults.
