B&R Automation's X20PS9500/PL3 is a power supply module in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It delivers conditioned power to the CPU backplane, supports CAN and serial signaling, and forms the electrical midpoint between the controller and field terminals in distributed control cabinets. By integrating power distribution with bus coupling, the unit simplifies rack layout and ensures that process signals and supply rails share a common source within standard DIN-mounted enclosures.

The CAN interface moves process data at up to 1 Mbit/s, while the separate RS-232 port tops out at 115.2 kbit/s; these limits set the available speed for diagnostic or maintenance links. The CPU/X2X segment draws a maximum of 0.7 A and can deliver up to 7 W to subsequent modules, with reverse-polarity protection and galvanic supply isolation present on this path. Field terminals receive a stabilized output of 24 VDC, so mixed sensor and actuator groups can be powered directly without secondary regulators.
