The X20PS9500 power feed module is part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series from B&R Automation. It supplies 24 VDC power to the slice backplane while also serving as the physical gateway that links controller nodes to RS-232 or CAN segments inside industrial machinery. By combining power conditioning and bus coupling, the unit simplifies modular expansion of distributed I/O. It is well suited to compact machine stations where backplane power and network access need to enter the rack at the same point.
Its input stage tolerates 24 VDC -15% / +20%, allowing continued operation during supply fluctuations. Under that range, the CPU/X2X rail draws a maximum of 0.7 A, and the dedicated X2X link consumes 1.42 W, which helps limit thermal stress in crowded cabinets. Field communication is provided through one RS-232 port and one CAN bus interface. The serial channel moves status data at up to 115.2 kbit/s, whereas the CAN interface carries cyclic process frames at up to 1 Mbit/s. This allows slower point-to-point serial traffic and faster fieldbus exchange to coexist in the same station. Internal I/O electronics require only 0.6 W, so the supply module remains an efficient edge element within the X20 rack.
For downstream loads, the device delivers 7 W of regulated power at 24 VDC, safeguarded by a 10 A slow-blow line fuse and a permissible contact load of 10 A per spring terminal. The housing meets IP20, so it must be installed in a protected enclosure, and it withstands ambient temperatures from -25 to 60 °C when mounted horizontally; vertical mounting is acceptable up to -25 to 50 °C. Because the internal 0.6 W overhead and the steady 1.42 W X2X demand remain within those thermal limits, cabinet ventilation can be planned more accurately. The fuse and contact load limits help protect connected sensors, valves, and additional I/O slices during normal operation.
