Product Description:

The X20PS9402 is a dedicated power supply module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input/Output Modules series. Installed on the X20 backplane, it furnishes regulated system and sensor power so neighboring digital or analog slices can switch reliably in distributed control cabinets and on-machine boxes. By delivering these rails through the common X2X interface, the unit simplifies wiring and helps each I/O node in an automated line receive stable voltage for deterministic operation.

The internal electronics draw only 0.2 W from the communication bus, while the backplane itself can be fed with up to 7 W to energize logic circuits on adjoining modules. A separate output path supplies up to 240 W to field devices, which makes the module suitable for clusters populated with relays, solenoid valves, or light curtains. To keep conductor dimensions predictable, the I/O rail is limited to a maximum continuous load of 10 A. Connection coding is keyed for 24 VDC so higher voltages cannot be applied accidentally. The X2X link electronics themselves consume 0.6 W, and all signals enter through a 12-pin front connector. Because the supply path is not galvanically isolated, upstream protective earth bonding must be maintained whenever sensors share the same reference potential.

The module tolerates ambient temperatures from -25 °C during cold start to orientation-dependent upper limits of 60 °C in horizontal mounting or 50 °C in vertical mounting. Operation is permitted at relative humidity up to 95% non-condensing, which helps prevent moisture accumulation on energized conductors. Installations at elevations up to 2000 m above sea level are supported without derating, allowing use in most industrial facilities. Mechanical ventilation must be arranged so heat from bus dissipation and I/O loading can be carried away by convection.
