The X20PS8002 is a power supply module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It delivers regulated 24-volt power to distributed I/O nodes and mounts directly on a top-hat rail beside digital or analog slices. Within automated machinery, the unit powers the logic electronics of each attached module, allowing the fieldbus segment to remain energized during quick tooling changes or service. Its housing snaps into the series backplane, eliminating the need for separate interconnect cables.
The module falls under the power supply module category, meaning its internal circuitry converts incoming plant power into the stabilized backplane rails required by control slices. Field wiring enters through push-in terminals, so conductors can be seated without tools, and vibration cannot loosen the clamps. A rated input of 24 VDC aligns with common safety extra-low voltage sources and matches the keyed feed connector to help prevent accidental miswiring. Installation on a top-hat rail permits fast removal during panel service while maintaining the protective grounding path. The housing presents 12 terminal pins to the series backplane, distributing power and ground to adjacent modules without external jumpers.

The built-in coding follows 24-volt terminal keying, so connectors intended for higher voltages cannot mate with the plug. This keying arrangement also helps prevent an incompatible power connection when modules are installed or removed from the node.
