Product Description:
The X20PS4951 power supply slice is produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It plugs into the system backplane to energize adjacent signal modules and to provide a stable reference for onboard potentiometer taps used in process, motion, or temperature loops. By consolidating power distribution inside the I/O row, the unit simplifies cabinet wiring and helps maintain consistent voltage levels across distributed sensor interfaces. It is well suited to compact I/O stations where several neighboring slices share the same internal supply path.
During horizontal installation the module functions safely from -25 °C up to 60 °C. Vertical mounting lowers the upper limit to 50 °C because convection paths are reduced. A maximum relative humidity of 95% allows operation in damp production zones, provided condensation is avoided during use. The plastic housing carries an IP20 rating, so it resists finger contact and small foreign objects while still allowing airflow through the rack. For analog position sensing, the device provides a dedicated potentiometer rail of ±10 V. That supply is routed to four screw terminals, giving the controller access to 4 independent potentiometer channels without requiring external excitation sources. Overvoltage Category II means the internal insulation is suited to transient levels normally found on branch circuits supplied from low-voltage distribution boards.
Installation is permitted at altitudes up to 2000 m, which supports use in most inland facilities without derating. The module withstands transport or in-service shocks up to 15 g, helping it tolerate panel impacts and other short-duration mechanical disturbances. It also handles continuous vibration levels of 1 g, which is useful where control cabinets are mounted on moving frames or near reciprocating equipment. Stable electrical contact at the backplane is important in these conditions because the slice distributes power to neighboring modules. The housing and internal connections are suited to applications where vibration and routine handling loads are part of normal operation.
