Product Description:
B&R Automation manufactures the X20PS3310 power supply slice for distributed control assemblies in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The module injects stabilized power onto the X2X backplane so adjacent digital or analog units can operate without separate wiring. It mounts directly on the rail beside CPU or coupler segments, forming a compact chain that helps conserve cabinet depth. That arrangement also reduces point-to-point supply wiring between slices and keeps the terminal area easier to organize inside machine panels. By providing internal potentials and fuse protection at the segment entrance, it supports orderly power zoning across the control node.
The bus section of the slice draws only 0.2 W, an internal overhead that minimizes heat dissipation in tightly packed racks. From the external feeder, the module can deliver up to 7 W onto the system bus, helping maintain stable logic voltage across the node. A dedicated regulator supplies the X2X communication layer with 0.82 W, which helps isolate field noise from signaling circuits. For sensors and actuators, the internal rail can furnish as much as 144 W, and the permissible load is limited by a maximum summation current of 10 A. An integrated fine-wire fuse disconnects the output under overload, eliminating the need for a separate fuse holder. The supply functions are split between the X2X link and internal I/O domains, allowing faults on one path to be checked without obscuring the status of the other.
The enclosure carries a protection rating of IP20, so live parts must be mounted inside a cabinet while routine wiring remains accessible without sealing gaskets. Mechanical resilience is supported by a shock tolerance of 15 g and continuous vibration endurance of 1 g, permitting installation on moving machine frames and other equipment subject to normal machine motion. The device maintains full performance up to 2000 m installation height, and its design meets Overvoltage Category II for low-voltage distribution networks downstream of primary mains equipment. Because the unit is an open-style slice rather than a sealed field device, cabinet placement is the normal installation method for reliable operation near active control hardware.
