Internal Product Review
The X20IF10D1-1/IP is a B & R Automation fieldbus input/output module configured as an EtherNet/IP Scanner (Master). Dual shielded RJ45 ports with an integrated switch simplify network layout and support clean Ethernet integration. Autonegotiation and a 10/100 Mbit/s transfer rate make this module a strong choice for stable industrial communication.

Product Description:
The X20IF10D1-1/IP is a communication interface module manufactured by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed next to an X20 CPU, the unit functions as an EtherNet/IP scanner, allowing the controller to organize and supervise multiple remote devices across a standard Ethernet infrastructure used in industrial systems. By combining real-time deterministic messaging with the series’ modular form factor, the module streamlines distributed I/O tasks in assembly lines, conveyor systems, and other automated cells.
The module draws only 2 W from the backplane, minimizing thermal load inside compact cabinets. Packet buffering is handled by 8 MB SDRAM, which stores I/O data images and protocol frames while the netX100 communication controller executes scan cycles. Line speed is selectable at 10/100 Mbit/s and uses the Ethernet physical layer 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX, so legacy 10 Mbit installations and newer Fast Ethernet segments are both supported. Two integrated ports, presented as two shielded RJ45 ports, create a small embedded switch that permits daisy-chain wiring without external hubs; the ports accept segment lengths up to 100 m when Category 5e cable is used. Auto-MDI/MDIX and autonegotiation are enabled, and the duplex mode can operate in half or full duplex, allowing automated link configuration with third-party devices.
An IP20 protection rating means the electronics are finger-safe and intended for installation inside a control cabinet rather than exposed machine mounting. The module can be installed at elevations up to 2000 m without derating; above that altitude, the allowable ambient temperature must be reduced by 0.5 °C/100 m. Auto-MDI/MDIX and the integrated switch help reduce cabling errors, while the netX100 processor maintains deterministic scan intervals on EtherNet/IP networks.
