Product Description:
The X20IF10D1-1 is an interface slice manufactured by B&R Automation and assigned to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It is intended to add EtherNet/IP connectivity to a modular X20 station, allowing a PLC to exchange cyclic and acyclic data with distributed sensors, drives, and safety islands over standard Ethernet infrastructure. The housing follows the X20 slice format and mounts beside power and processing units, where it shares backplane power and diagnostics in a compact control assembly. This arrangement adds network communication without requiring a separate standalone gateway for the station.
The device is categorized as an Interface Module, and it provides 1 physical network port to handle communication traffic. That port uses EtherNet/IP and is configured as a scanner (master), so it initiates connections to adapter nodes and maintains I/O data exchange on its own. To preserve signal integrity at 100 Mbit/s, the connector is intended for CAT 5 SF/UTP cabling with foil shielding around each pair and an overall braid. This setup supports deterministic messaging while keeping the compact mechanical footprint of the X20 platform unchanged.
Field wiring terminates on a removable terminal block with 12 pins, and the molded keying is intended for a 24 VDC supply so accidental connection to higher voltages is avoided. The shield of the incoming Ethernet cable is bonded on both sides of the connector, which helps reduce high-frequency noise without depending only on backplane ground. Device Type Manager configuration is available, allowing parameter data to be integrated into engineering software through electronic descriptions. The module also remains dimensionally consistent with other X20 slices, so it fits standard carrier rail layouts and preserves uniform spacing within the station.
