X20IF10A1-1 is a communications module. It is used to allow X20 systems to integrate with third-party components. An ASi master interface is available on the unit. The module can be installed in Powerlink bus controller X20BC1083 or X20 CPUs from B & R Automation. Operators must order one TB704 terminal block separately for termination of physical wiring. This terminal block can accept wires with 2.5 mm2 cross-sectional area. Three LED status indicator are available, for module status, network status and data transfer. These indicators allow operators to monitor the unit and troubleshoot it when required. The maximum fieldbus current draw is 27 milliamps. Power consumption of the bus is 1.1 Watts and Fieldbus power consumption is 0.85 Watts. The communication interface on the X20IF10A1-1 is a 4-pin multipoint male interface. It requires 24 to 32 Volts DC power supply.
The communication bus can support up to 62 nodes. The standard maximum distance is 100 meters. With additional components, the bus distance can go up to 500 meters. The typical cycle time is 3 milliseconds and the maximum cycle time is 5 milliseconds. The unit is electrically isolated from the PLC. Operators can mount the unit either horizontally or vertically. Above 2000 meters, the maximum ambient temperature must be reduced by 0.5 degrees for every additional 100 meters. The X20IF10A1-1 complies with IP20 protection rating. When connected to the POWERLINK bus controller, the amount of cyclic data is limited by the POWERLINK frame to 1488 bytes in the transmit and receive directions. Firmware is installed on the unit and can be upgraded via the Automation Studio software tool. Only qualified personnel should handle the unit.
