Product Description:
The X20IF10A1-1 fieldbus module is produced by B&R Automation as part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Intended for AS-Interface-based installations, it functions as a master node that links distributed sensors and actuators to the central controller. By concentrating field signals into a single communication channel and reducing point-to-point connections, the unit simplifies wiring in conveyor lines, packaging machines, and other automated equipment.
Its communication side uses a single 1 ASi Master interface, allowing it to supervise up to 62 AS-Interface slaves without additional gateways. Parameterization can be performed through DTM support, so the module can be integrated into common FDT frame applications and configured from the same workstation that handles the PLC. When mounted horizontally, it tolerates ambient temperatures from -25 to 60 °C, helping it maintain reliable bus timing in both cold-start and high-heat cabinet conditions. Operation remains stable at site elevations from 0 to 2000 m. An enclosure rating of IP20 indicates protection against finger contact and settled dust, so the module must be installed inside a protective enclosure, and the overvoltage category II classification indicates the surge level expected on the supply side.
In a vertical mounting position, the permitted thermal range narrows to -25 to 50 °C, which helps limit heat buildup along the internal PCB. The module is intended for installation in a control cabinet, aligning with grounding and shielding practices used for low-voltage industrial circuits. Mechanical resilience is verified for shocks up to 15 g and continuous vibration of 1 g, allowing the unit to operate near stamping presses, rotary fillers, or mobile machine frames without signal dropout. Cabinet placement also helps keep the module protected while preserving orderly cable routing inside enclosed automation panels.
