X20IF1091-1 is a communications module. It is part of the X20 product line from B & R Automation. The module is equipped with an X2X link master interface. Operators can install the module in an X20BC1083 expandable bus controller. One TB704 terminal block must be ordered separately for wire termination. LED indicators for data transfer and module status are available on the unit. Power consumption of the communication module is 1.29 Watts. It is certified by CE, ATEX, UL and EAC, among others. The fieldbus interface the unit is a 4-pin male multipoint connectors. The fieldbus can support maximum 253 stations. Internal power supply is not available on the bus. The module supports line network technology where the maximum distance between two stations can go up to 1000 meters. An internal bus terminating resistor is available on the unit.
When the module is installed, the PLC is electrically isolated from the communication link. The supported mounting orientations are horizontal and vertical. As per the manufacturer, the maximum permitted installation elevation is 2000 meters without derating. Protection rating of the X20IF1091-1 unit is IP20, and it must be used indoors or inside a suitable enclosure. When mounted horizontally, the working temperature range is -25 to 60 degrees Celsius. When mounted vertically, the working temperature range is -25 to 50 degrees Celsius. The recommended temperature for storage and transport is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Clock of the module automatically synchronizes with the bus controller clock. Firmware is preinstalled on the communication module. Automation Studio software can be used for firmware upgrades. Only qualified personnel with relevant experience and training should install and maintain the unit.
