Product Description:
The X20IF1063-1 is an input/output communication module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Mounted on an X20 backplane, the unit extends remote I/O capacity and enables deterministic data exchange between distributed sensors, actuators, and a central controller within automated machinery. Its compact housing conserves panel space and simplifies wiring, allowing additional network functionality to be integrated without changing the controller’s core processing architecture. This arrangement is useful in modular machines where field devices must be linked over a dedicated bus while the main control hardware remains unchanged.
The module communicates over PROFIBUS DP and supports profile revision V1, which adds acyclic parameter access alongside standard cyclic data. Only one physical port is present because the interface count is 1, which keeps the bus connection straightforward. Electronics draw just 1.8 W from the X20 supply, so heat contribution inside the cabinet remains low. Device Type Manager support is available, allowing parameter access through compatible FDT software tools during operation. Operating exclusively as a Slave, the node does not control bus timing and instead responds to requests from the network master. An ingress protection rating of IP20 limits installation to enclosed, dry environments where the electronics are protected from accidental contact and larger solid objects.
Continuous operation is permitted up to 2000 m altitude, and the design tolerates ambient humidity reaching 95% RH without condensation. The module is intended for normal industrial control cabinets where supply transients remain within Overvoltage Category II limits. The housing withstands shocks of 15 g and vibration levels of 1 g, helping the unit remain suitable for installations on machinery that experiences regular motion. These operating conditions support stable communication in automated equipment, especially where remote I/O modules are mounted close to sensors and actuators rather than inside a separate centralized rack.
