The X20IF1063 is a standard interface module developed and offered by B&R Automation under its X20 product series. With its intuitive front panel, this device can be used to expand the capabilities of X20 controllers. Specifically, this interface module is used alongside an X20 controller to provide an extra PROFIBUS DP V0 interface. As a compact interface module, this device offers electrical isolation and can achieve a maximum data rate of 12 Mbit/s. Like other interface modules manufactured by B&R Automation, this device offers an intuitive set of status LEDs for monitoring both the module status and data transfer.

During nominal operation, the X20IF1063 consumes a total power of around 0.87 watts. Note, however, that this power rating excludes other accessories or actuators that may draw additional power. As mentioned earlier, this interface module is manufactured specifically for adding a PROFIBUS DP slave fieldbus. The connector type employed by this unit is a 9-pin female DSUB connector, which can transmit data at a maximum propagation distance of 1200 m. As a small and compact electrical module, this device can safely be mounted in both horizontal and vertical orientations with little to no differences in performance.

Like other electrical modules in an industrial system, the X20IF1063 has a configurable address, adjustable using two hexadecimal rotary switches. By configuring the address for this device, it can properly issue and receive command signals and communicate with other electrical units within the system. During operation, this device can handle a maximum environmental temperature of up to 60 degrees Celsius when mounted horizontally. On the other hand, when mounted vertically, this unit can operate only at a maximum ambient temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.
