Product Description:
The X20IF1061-1 interface module is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It is designed to add a dedicated PROFIBUS master channel to an X20 PLC node so that centralized control hardware can scan distributed I/O stations or drives attached to the bus. By plugging the module onto the X20 backplane, the controller separates real-time field communication tasks from the CPU and supports deterministic data exchange within an automation cell.
Communication tasks are executed by the netX100 multiprotocol controller, which handles telegram framing and diagnostic services for the PROFIBUS DP V0/V1 master interface. The bus is routed through a single 9-pin female DSUB connector and supports transfer rates up to 12 Mbit/s, while the physical speed is selected to match the wiring length. For every PROFIBUS scan cycle, the module can accept up to 3.5 kB of input data and can transmit the same amount of output data, providing capacity for large decentralized valve terminals or drive arrays. The PLC electronics are galvanically isolated from the fieldbus channel, which helps prevent ground loops between cabinet electronics and remote machinery. Operation is permitted at a relative humidity of 5% to 95%, non-condensing.
Process images and parameter blocks are buffered in 8 MB SDRAM, giving adequate space for acyclic diagnostic data without increasing CPU load. The module draws only 1.8 W from the X20 power rail, so thermal rise remains low even when mounted beside densely populated slices. Its enclosure carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for closed electrical cabinets where ingress protection is handled by the housing. Horizontal mounting allows continuous service from -25 to 60 °C, while in a vertical orientation the upper limit drops to 50 °C. Safe storage and transport are allowed between -40 °C and 85 °C, and the device withstands that same range while inactive.
