The B & R Automation presents an X20 Series component that is a communication module called the X20IF1030. This module has provision for RS485 and RS422 bus communication standards. It includes a 9-pin female DSUB connector, which is a serial interface type commonly used in industrial products so that the device can be connected to any other industrial products and devices.
It uses a very low power consumption of about 0.4 W, this X20IF1030 thus plays a crucial role of conserving energy, thus contributing to energy saving in an automation system. It provides a maximum transfer rate of 115.2 kbit/s. The X20IF1030 comes with an integrated UART type operating under the 16C550 standard. When it comes to installing the flexibility, the X20IF1030 can be mounted either in the horizontal or vertical orientation.
The module is designed to work in temperatures ranging from -25 degrees C to 60 degrees C for a horizontal installation while it is compatible with a temperature ranging from -25 degrees C to 50 degrees C for a vertical installation. For storage, it can operate at temperatures of -40 to 85 degrees C hence making it durable while in transport and storage. It also has other LED indications which include 'STATUS', 'RxD' and 'TxD' to facilitate the indication of the current status of the X20IF1030 and the data transfer status.
