Product Description:
The X20HB8815 is a hub expansion unit produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It serves as an active network junction that inserts seamlessly into an enclosed control cabinet, allowing distributed I/O nodes to be linked through integrated network ports while maintaining galvanic isolation between the segments. Designed as an open equipment device, the module supports standard control panel wiring practices and carries an integrated parameter chip so configuration data remains with the module.
The hub is rated for horizontal operation up to 60 °C and remains functional down to -25 °C, covering a broad operating range for factory floors that alternate between unheated conditions and full-load machine operation. Its altitude rating of 2000 m supports use in elevated installations, while a humidity tolerance of 95% RH suits high-moisture cabinet environments with proper condensation control. Communication wiring is simplified by 2 RJ45 ports that form the active star topology, and diagnostic LEDs next to each port provide immediate link and status feedback. The module is classified as open equipment, which means the surrounding cabinet must provide the required touch-safe enclosure and airflow.
Electrical terminations are carried on a removable connector block that contains 12 terminal pins arranged for push-in technology, allowing toolless insertion of solid or ferruled conductors. A keyed supply rail carrying 24 VDC helps prevent mismating with higher-voltage segments, and the internal design includes coding features so only compatible X20 components can be docked side by side. As one of the active hub modules, the device can be cascaded with additional units to expand the fieldbus while preserving deterministic timing across the I/O map.
