The B & R Automation X20HB2885 is an active hub expansion component of the X20 Series and is aimed at improving the industrial automation systems' network connection. This module has two shielded RJ45 interfaces for the purpose of providing a good quality Ethernet interface. The X20HB2885 module is power efficient with power dissipation of 1.17 W. It offers compatibility with a transfer rate of one hundred Mbit/s in compliance with the physical layer 100BASE-TX. For the purpose of informing the status of the module as well as the bus function, the module has status lights. Such LED indicators are useful for making quick assessments and for identifying problems so that the operator can quickly tell whether the module is operating as it should. Furthermore, the electrical isolation between the fieldbus and the power supply is provided in this module.
The X20HB2885 has been constructed to be mounted either in a horizontal or a vertical manner. Furthermore, this module has been rated for 2000 meters operating altitude and installation without any restriction. In the installations above 2000 meters there is a decrease in the ambient temperature by 0.5 degrees C per 100 meters.
