Product Description:
The X20DO8332 is a digital output module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for source output circuits, the unit switches 24 VDC loads in machine and process automation systems, providing direct electrical interfacing between the control backplane and field actuators. It draws its load energy from an external actuator supply so the internal bus remains dedicated to logic, making the module suitable for distributed panels where power segmentation is required.
At a nominal level of 24 VDC, the module’s transistors operate in their linear range, allowing each channel to deliver a steady load of 2 A without derating. The low internal path of 140 mΩ keeps conduction losses small, limiting heat rise and preserving output accuracy. Leakage current in the off state is only 5 µA, which helps prevent unintended energizing of sensitive coils. All eight drivers are arranged in two galvanically linked output groups, and the aggregate draw may reach an 8 A ceiling when every channel is active. The I/O section dissipates 0.92 W under rated loading, and an IP20 housing is finger-safe for cabinet installation yet requires placement inside a protective enclosure.
Beyond load handling, the module presents 8 discrete sourcing channels that are scanned by the controller in hardware. A diagnostic timer adds a 10 ms output-monitor delay, allowing transient faults to clear before an error is declared. Logic supply requirements are restrained to 0.22 W of bus power, reducing heat on densely populated racks. The internal barriers withstand 500 Veff insulation voltage between field and logic segments, supporting mixed-potential installations. A 1-Wire backplane connection and a 12.5 mm pitch with a tolerance of ±0.2 mm simplify stacking with neighboring X20 cards without additional wiring.
