The X20DO8322 is a digital output module manufactured by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Installed on the X20 backplane beside CPU, power supply, and communication slices, the unit converts fieldbus commands into discrete switching signals that actuate coils, relays, or status lamps in automated equipment. Its narrow housing helps preserve cabinet space in modular control assemblies. This format lets digital outputs sit directly beside input, communication, and processor modules without separate mounting hardware. The module also supports channel-by-channel diagnostics and uses replaceable wiring interfaces for serviceable connections.
The module provides 8 output channels, each able to deliver up to 0.5 A of load current for direct connection to low-power actuators. Its outputs use a source topology, so the module supplies the positive side of the line while loads return through the common negative. Nominal field voltage is 24 VDC, which matches common industrial control power. Internal protection circuits limit reverse-polarity and short-circuit stress, and the overvoltage category II rating sets insulation clearance requirements for building-level installations. A front housing classified at IP20 keeps fingers and tools away from energized conductors when the slice is mounted inside an indoor control cabinet.
Environmental tolerances allow continuous horizontal operation up to 60 °C, while vertical mounting must not exceed 50 °C. The module remains functional down to -25 °C for cold-start situations and can be installed at elevations reaching 2000 m without derating. It withstands mechanical shocks of up to 15 g during transport or on-machine impact events. A non-condensing atmosphere with relative humidity not exceeding 95 percent, plus vibration levels of 1 g, supports stable switching behavior in typical factory environments. The allowed humidity range assumes the absence of condensation inside the cabinet during operation.
