Product Description:
The X20DO6322 digital output module is produced by B&R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit interfaces remote actuators with a controller over the X20 backplane. In an automation cell, it converts low-level control signals into switched power so PLC logic can energize valves, contactors, or indicator lamps. Its compact form factor makes it suitable for distributed I/O layouts where control hardware must fit into narrow panel spaces without sacrificing direct field-level switching.
Each channel operates from a nominal field supply of 24 VDC, and the module provides 6 discrete outputs for small machine sections that need individual load control. A nominal load of 0.5 A per channel is supported, while actuator dissipation is limited to 0.31 W, which helps keep cabinet heating low during normal operation. The embedded electronics draw only 0.18 W from the internal bus, reducing the demand placed on the slice power system. Electrical separation is supported by an insulation rating of 500 Veff, allowing field-side switching and internal logic to remain appropriately isolated inside the module.
Total current across all outputs is limited to 3 A, so connected loads must be distributed within the module's combined capacity rather than sized only by channel rating. Diagnostic behavior includes an output-monitoring delay of 10 ms, which gives the controller time to ignore brief transients before signaling a fault condition. Protection against accidental contact is limited to an IP20 enclosure, so the module is intended for installation inside a closed control cabinet. The output stage uses source switching, bus lines are galvanically isolated, leakage current is very low when an output is off, and the terminals support either one-wire or two-wire field connections.
