Product Description:
The X20DO6321 digital output module is produced by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It attaches to an X20 backplane in a distributed PLC rack and provides electrically isolated switching of field devices under controller command. By converting logic-level signals from the CPU into power-level outputs, the unit drives actuators such as contactors, lamps, or pneumatic valves, giving the automation system direct control over machine functions without additional relays. This arrangement lets the PLC command machine devices from the I/O station while keeping the output side isolated from the control electronics.
The channel group operates at a nominal output voltage of 24 VDC, which matches the most common control-circuit level found in industrial panels and avoids the higher clearance distances required for mains potentials. Each channel can source up to 0.5 A, allowing resistive or inductive loads within that current range to be energized without external amplifiers. The module integrates 6 outputs, so multiple devices can be controlled from one slot while conserving cabinet space. The outputs use a sinking circuit, meaning the module switches the negative leg of the supply and expects the load to be tied to the positive rail. The field connectors are rated for approximately 50 mating cycles, and the push-in terminal design accepts two conductors of 0.75 mm² each to support loop-through wiring when daisy-chaining sensors or coils.
For cabinet installation, the housing carries a protection rating of IP20, indicating finger-safe openings but requiring placement inside an enclosure for dust or liquid protection. Mechanical durability is verified for shocks up to 15 g and continuous vibration of 1 g, so the module maintains contact integrity on moving machinery frames. Its circuits are classified in Overvoltage Category II, confirming suitability for low-energy control lines that are separated from the building power distribution.
