Product Description:
The X20DO4613 digital output module is produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It serves as an AC switching interface in distributed I/O racks, translating bus commands from a central PLC into triac-controlled signals that can drive pilot lamps, contactors, or other light loads on a common supply network. By embedding this function directly on the backplane, the module reduces panel wiring and keeps deterministic timing between control logic and field devices. Because the outputs use triac switching, the module is intended for AC loads and is suited to control tasks where clean synchronized switching is preferred over relay-based contacts.
Each of the module’s 4 output channels is governed by an internal triac bus controller and supplies up to 50 mA of continuous load current across a voltage range of 48 to 240 VAC. Zero-cross detection is integrated so that the triac fires only as the AC waveform crosses the reference point, limiting electromagnetic interference and reducing stress on connected loads during switching events. In horizontal orientation, the electronics remain within tolerance from -25 to 60 °C, and the housing carries an IP20 rating, which indicates finger-safe terminals but no protection against liquids. The circuit also meets Overvoltage Category II requirements and uses 240 V keying on the terminal block to help prevent incorrect insertion of lower-voltage distribution plugs.
Mechanical integration follows the EN 60715 (TH35-7.5) rail profile, allowing rapid snap-in mounting alongside other X20 modules. During transport or operation, the assembly withstands shocks up to 15 g and random vibration levels of 1 g without contact bounce or loss of bus communication. Reliable operation is specified from sea level to an altitude of 0 to 2000 m, while vertical installation is permitted when the ambient temperature stays within the stated limit. The module fits standard control cabinets used for machine automation, signaling, and general-purpose building control, and its rail-mounted form keeps the I/O station orderly inside compact enclosures.
