Product Description:
The X20DO4529 digital output module from B&R Automation belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It is a relay-based output slice that routes control signals from a PLC to field devices such as contactors or indicator lamps. Single-channel galvanic isolation on each relay makes the unit suitable for industrial automation cabinets where mixed voltage domains must remain separate. Its compact slice format also suits modular I/O stations that need relay outputs without adding separate interface hardware.
During operation, the module draws 0.8 W from the internal X20 backplane, which helps limit heat inside dense racks. Each relay is separated from the bus by 1500 VAC channel-to-bus isolation, while adjacent channels are insulated from one another with 1000 VAC channel-to-channel isolation; these clearances help reduce crosstalk when different supply domains share the same slice. The output stage can switch up to 30 W / 62.5 VA, so resistive DC loads or small AC coils can be handled without external interposing relays. Under rated conditions, the contacts deliver 1 A at 30 VDC / 0.5 A at 115 VAC, and the module reacts with a switching delay of ≤4 ms, allowing timely actuation in discrete control tasks.
For higher fault tolerance, the assembly is specified for a maximum switching voltage of 110 VDC / 125 VAC and can carry a combined load of 4 A at 30 VDC / 2 A at 115 VAC across its 4 output channels. A 2 A inrush rating lets the relays absorb startup surges from capacitive or incandescent loads, while 75 mΩ contact resistance keeps voltage drop low at working currents. Mechanical durability reaches 50 × 10⁶ cycles, and the minimum electrical life is 100 × 10³ operations, supporting long service intervals in packaging, conveying, or material-handling stations. Because each path uses a single-channel isolated changeover contact, the wiring can support normally open or normally closed operation without additional modules.
