Product Description:
The X20DO2649 is a digital output component produced by B&R Automation within the X20 platform. As a relay module, it converts low-level logic signals from the controller into galvanically isolated contact closures for field devices. By integrating this module at a remote I/O node, the system can switch solenoids, contactors, or indicator lamps directly from the networked assembly without routing higher-current field wiring back to the central cabinet. This arrangement helps separate the control side from the load side while keeping the installation compact and easy to organize.
Each channel uses a changeover contact arrangement, providing both normally open and normally closed paths in a single relay. The module offers 2 output channels, so two independent loads can be switched from one housing. Its output element is a mechanical relay, which provides zero leakage current in the off state and allows switching of either AC or DC loads. For AC operation, each channel supports a continuous carrying capacity of 5 A AC at voltages up to 240 VAC. Those limits indicate the allowable switching range for the contact set and should be observed when pairing the module with field wiring and protective devices.
For direct-current applications, the contacts are rated for 5 A DC with a nominal switching potential of 24 VDC. The hardware uses two electromechanical relays, so each channel has its own separate switching element and operating life. As part of the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series, the module uses the same carrier concept, bus connection method, and diagnostic LED approach found across the platform. Compatibility with the broader control architecture from B&R Automation allows the module to operate alongside mixed analog and digital slices in the same distributed I/O station.
