Product Description:
The X20DO2322 is a digital output module produced by B&R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed to interface discrete actuators with a centralized controller, the unit provides sourcing outputs that switch field circuits on machinery or process equipment. By occupying a single slot in an X20 backplane, the module expands output capacity without changing existing wiring practices and keeps signaling within a distributed automation architecture.
The housing is only 12.5 mm wide, 99 mm high, and 75 mm deep, so two modules can fit in very little cabinet space. These dimensions minimize enclosure footprint and still allow direct attachment to a TH35-7.5 DIN rail used in most control cabinets, providing quick slide-in installation and reliable grounding. The output side is powered from a field supply of 24 VDC, and the module routes this voltage to each output transistor. This arrangement separates logic power from actuator power and helps prevent back-feed into the controller bus.
Each channel can deliver a continuous load of 0.5 A, and the module has an output count of 2, which suits pneumatic valve islands, indicator lamps, or small solenoids that draw modest current. Because the outputs are configured as Source drivers, the module supplies the positive side of the field circuit, which simplifies wiring in PNP-style networks. The unit has an overvoltage category II rating, indicating insulation clearances suitable for distribution-level transients inside a cabinet. The enclosure carries an IP20 protection rating, so it must be mounted inside a covered panel but still permits tool-free plug connection. Mechanical durability includes shock resistance up to 15 g and vibration tolerance up to 1 g, supporting reliable service on mobile frames or high-speed machinery.
