The B&R Automation X20DM9324 is a module of the X20 Series whereby it has the functionalities of digital input and output scanning. The presented module has 8 digital inputs with the sink connection and 4 digital outputs with the source connection and has an operating voltage of 24VDC.

The input of the module can be developed with an input impedance of 6.4 k? and a programmable software input filter which can be programmed to 0 and 25 ms depending on the preferences of the user to enhance the usability of the module. It has been set with a low threshold at below 5VDC while the high threshold is set at more than 15VDC. At the output side of the X20DM9324, a nominal output current of 0.5A per channel, total current capacity of 2A (for all the outputs). The module also has a thermal cutoff feature which is tripped in case of overcurrent or short circuit in order to protect the module and other systems connected to it, providing an additional layer of protection for both the module and the connected systems.

The X20DM9324 also has a low propagation delay with the switching on time of less than 300uS and the switching off time of less than 300uS.This ensures rapid response times, which are critical in time-sensitive industrial processes. Further, the module has been developed with an isolation voltage of 500 V, thus making the module immune to electrical interference and working efficiently even in areas of high electrical activity.
