Product Description:
The X20DI9372 is a digital input module produced by B&R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It accepts discrete sensor signals and forwards them to a controller on the same backplane, providing electrical isolation and standardized wiring inside distributed I/O stations. By converting field-level 24-volt logic to the internal bus format, it helps automate machine sequences, material-handling sections, and auxiliary processes where compact signal aggregation is required. Its role is limited to monitoring incoming field states, so switching actions are handled by separate controller logic or output modules in the station.
The module uses a rated input voltage of 24 VDC, which is the common supply level for industrial proximity switches and photo sensors. It provides 12 opto-isolated channels, allowing multiple field signals to be processed in one housing. The module uses Source input logic, meaning the field device supplies current to the module, which simplifies wiring when the supply common is at ground potential. Mechanical installation follows EN 60715 (TH35-7.5), so the housing snaps onto a standard 35 mm top-hat rail without additional brackets. At a depth of 75 mm, the board stack and terminal block remain within the depth envelope of typical control cabinets. This compact format supports dense I/O placement in modular assemblies where several signal modules are mounted side by side.
Cabinet layout benefits from the front panel height of 99 mm, which aligns with other X20 family modules for uniform row spacing. Clearance guidelines call for at least 35 mm below the rail and 10 mm on each side to preserve convection paths and leave room for field-wiring tools. These spacing rules also help keep terminal access clear when adjacent modules are installed in narrow control cabinets. The housing is identified as a Digital Input Module, indicating that no output drivers or analog interfaces are included. That arrangement keeps the module focused on status acquisition from switches, sensors, and other discrete field devices used in machine control panels.
