The X20DI6373 is a digital input module manufactured by B&R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It is intended for DIN-rail assembly beside other X20 slices and serves to acquire binary field signals for programmable controllers. By translating external 24-volt sensor voltages into deterministic logic data, the part supports fast machine interlocks, safety doors, and material-flow monitoring. Its slim housing mates directly with system bus couplers, so high channel density can be achieved in panels where depth and width are limited.
Each input channel accepts a nominal field level of 24 VDC, matching the standard control voltage used in most factory installations. The module uses sink/source connections, so it can detect current flowing into or out of the common rail without requiring a polarity-specific wiring scheme. Because all inputs are floating, no terminal is referenced to internal ground, which helps reduce ground-loop currents when sensors share distant power supplies.
