Product Description:
The X20DI6372 is a digital input module manufactured by B&R Automation and supplied within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. The module occupies one slot on the backplane and is intended to collect discrete machine status signals, forwarding them through the system bus for use by a PLC or industrial controller. By translating field-level sensor contacts into logic-level data, the unit supports deterministic control sequences in automated equipment. This type of module is commonly used where limit switches, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, and other on/off devices must be monitored with predictable timing.
The module provides 6 input channels that use Source logic, so each sensor sends a positive switching signal to the module. Positive switching supports connection to common industrial sensors that present a high output state when actuated. All inputs accept 24 VDC and are filtered for interference before the signals are transferred onto the fieldbus. The built-in filtering helps reduce nuisance state changes caused by electrical noise from nearby drives, relays, or contactors. In horizontal installation, the electronics tolerate ambient temperatures up to 60 °C, while vertical mounting lowers the limit to 50 °C. Insulation is suitable for Overvoltage Category II circuits inside control cabinets. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so the module must be installed behind an enclosure door.
The module can start up at temperatures down to -25 °C, which supports use in cold-room or unheated machinery. Reliable operation is permitted at altitudes up to 2000 m, where reduced air density can affect cooling. The PCB and connectors withstand continuous vibration of 1 g and intermittent mechanical shocks of 15 g, which helps prevent false input transitions on dynamic equipment or during transport. These limits are important in installations where cabinet motion, machine impact, or repeated movement can disturb electronic connections. A maximum humidity of 95% RH, non-condensing, helps protect contact integrity when the cabinet is opened in damp production areas. Non-condensing operation means moisture may be present in the air, but liquid water should not form on the circuitry.
