Product Description:
The X20DI4760 is a digital input module produced by B&R Automation within the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It occupies one slot on an X20 terminal segment and relays discrete sensor states to the system bus. By accepting intrinsically safe proximity switch signals, the unit converts field information into controller-friendly logic levels for sequence control in distributed machinery. Its circuitry is designed for equipment installed in Overvoltage Category II environments, so it fits inside control cabinets where transient energy is limited.
The module provides 4 individually monitored channels, each implemented with a NAMUR sensing interface that detects the required on-state current of inductive sensors. Internal regulators supply field devices with a nominal excitation of 8.05 V; this voltage maintains the current window required by the NAMUR standard and supports reliable state discrimination. Protective molding and terminal geometry give the assembly an IP20 rating, restricting its use to enclosures while allowing tool-free wiring on the front panel. The module withstands shock loads of up to 15 g, helping the board maintain contact integrity when cabinets are transported or plant vibrations cause occasional impacts. The device continues to operate at elevations up to 2,000 m without derating channel accuracy.
Ambient limits allow horizontal installation at temperatures up to 60 °C, while a vertical orientation lowers the maximum temperature to 50 °C because the convection path is shorter. Humidity tolerance reaches 95% noncondensing, so normal seasonal moisture changes do not affect insulation resistance. Vibration resistance of 1 g supports cabinet-mounted applications involving fans, pumps, or conveyor frames. For colder locations, the module remains functional at temperatures down to -25 °C regardless of mounting direction, providing installation flexibility when panels are exposed to unheated warehouses or outdoor kiosks.
