Product Description:
B&R Automation's X20DI4653 digital input module belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It brings four line-voltage inputs into a centralized control system through the series backplane, allowing controllers to read contactors, limit switches, or other field devices. This arrangement lets a control system monitor line-voltage status signals without adding a separate interface relay card for simple sensing tasks. The module occupies a 12.5 mm pitch on the rail and is dedicated solely to signal acquisition rather than output switching.
Electrical separation between the field wiring and the internal bus is ensured by a dielectric strength of 2500 VAC for one minute, and each input channel is isolated from the bus. The backplane supplies only 0.17 W of power, so internal heat generation remains low, while field-side electronics consume an additional 0.91 W through the 2-wire input connections. The housing has an IP20 rating and is intended for installation inside an enclosure where the module is protected from direct contact and contamination. The default hardware delay from OFF to ON is ≤40 ms, which helps filter very short disturbances before they reach the controller. The module pitch is 12.5 mm ± 0.2 mm, allowing dense stacking on the X20 rail when cabinet space is limited.
The module has a hardware turn-off delay of ≤30 ms and an internal digital filter fixed at 1 ms, so contact bounce rarely reaches the controller. A logical HIGH is recognized above >79 VAC, and the input returns to LOW below <40 VAC, which helps avoid undefined switching states during normal line variation. Input voltage can reach up to 264 VAC maximum, and the four channels may draw a combined current of 4 Aeff during operation. The design is not short-circuit-proof, so external fusing is recommended where field wiring could be exposed to faults. The isolated channels and 2-wire terminals support direct connection of line-sensed input signals in compact X20 stations.
