Product Description:
The X20DI4375 digital input module is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Designed for cabinet-mounted control racks, this unit converts field-level switching signals into logic-level data for the automation processor. By wiring sensors such as limit switches, photoelectric detectors, or auxiliary contacts to its terminals, the module relays each state change to the system bus so that the controller can make real-time decisions on machine sequencing, safety interlocking, or alarm reporting.
The module provides 4 input channels, enabling independent monitoring of four discrete devices within the same housing. Each terminal uses a sink circuit, so the external sensor must source current toward the module’s common 0 V rail. Logic transitions are recognized at a nominal 24 VDC level, matching the standard control voltage used in most machinery panels. Built-in diagnostics supervise the wiring for open-circuit and short-circuit faults. Once a fault is detected, the module flags an error bit and records the affected channel. The housing carries an IP20 protection rating, so it must be installed inside an enclosure with suitable environmental shielding. Electrical stress is handled under Overvoltage Category II, which is suitable for installations fed from the secondary side of supply transformers.
Mechanical endurance is supported by a shock rating of 15 g for 11 ms half-sine impacts and a vibration tolerance of 1 g over the 10–500 Hz band, allowing reliable service on moving equipment frames. The electronics operate properly up to a maximum altitude of 2000 m, where reduced air density still permits proper heat dissipation. Operation is permitted in moisture-laden rooms as long as relative humidity does not exceed 95% RH without condensation. In these conditions, the module continues to scan inputs deterministically and supports timely event capture across the fieldbus network.
