The X20DI4371 is a digital input slice from B & R Automation and belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It brings discrete sensor data into distributed control architectures by converting external on/off states into logic-level information that is forwarded over the X20 system bus. Typical tasks include reading limit switches, pushbuttons, or proximity sensors on machinery. By packaging four inputs in a narrow housing, the unit reduces panel width while allowing remote expansion of I/O nodes close to the process.
Each channel accepts 24 VDC signals and is wired in sink mode, meaning the field device sources current into the module. The four inputs provide 4 logical points that can be scanned at the controller’s cycle rate for high-speed monitoring. Internal electronics draw only 0.13 W of bus-module power, so heat dissipation is minimal and several units can be lined up without exceeding cabinet thermal budgets.
