Product Description:
B&R Automation's X20DI0471 belongs to the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. It is a digital input slice designed for distributed control systems where compact DIN-rail assemblies collect sensor states and forward them to the controller across the X20 backplane. By accepting discrete 48 V DC sink inputs, the module translates field contact closures into deterministic bus data, making it suitable for interlocks, limit switches, and other discrete status signals.
Power budget is limited, which helps reduce thermal loading inside dense control cabinets. The module draws only 0.3 W from the backplane bus, while its field terminals consume an additional 0.94 W of external I/O supply and 0.6 W of internal conditioning energy. Each of the 10 channels shares a reference conductor through the 1-Wire connection scheme and follows a sink input circuit that sources current toward the field device. With a typical 0.96 mA demand at 48 V DC, wiring can remain light gauge while still working with the 20 kΩ reference input resistance monitored by the integrated supervision feature. Electrical separation between the logic core and terminal block is specified at 500 Veff, providing immunity to ground loops. The switching thresholds require the high level to exceed 0.6 × Uref and the low level to stay below 0.2 × Uref, which helps prevent ambiguous states under noise.
Input debouncing is handled inside the module rather than in the PLC task. A front-end filter of ≤100 µs suppresses contact chatter, and a default software filter of 1 ms adds another filtering stage. The filter can be tightened in 0.2 ms increments to better match cycle-time requirements. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so the slice must be mounted in an enclosure but does not need extra gasketing for a typical switch cabinet.
