Product Description:
The X20cSO2530 relay output module is produced by B & R Automation for the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series. Intended for industrial automation, the unit provides galvanically isolated switching so a controller can actuate external loads such as contactors or pilot lights directly from the fieldbus backplane. By plugging the module into an X20 slice, users gain independent form-A relays that translate low-level logic commands into mains-rated outputs without additional interface hardware. This arrangement allows field devices to be controlled while keeping their electrical circuits isolated from the backplane logic.
Each channel can switch up to 230 VAC in AC circuits or up to 24 VDC for DC loads, providing flexibility across power domains. The breaking capacity reaches 6 A, so resistive devices such as heaters or solenoids can be switched without an interposing contactor. The output circuitry uses an electromechanical relay architecture that separates field voltage from logic potential and prevents leakage when the contacts are open. The module provides 2 identical output contacts, arranged as form-A elements with a normally open state. One contact per relay provides straightforward single-pole control while keeping the module width minimal. A conformal coating improves dielectric strength around solder joints and helps protect the circuitry from moisture and airborne contaminants. The ability to handle both AC and DC loads also simplifies integration into machines containing different control-voltage systems.
The module tolerates installation sites up to 2000 m above sea level without derating. Operation is permitted at an ambient humidity of 100% RH, allowing the unit to function in locations where condensation may occur. Thermal limits depend on orientation and must be considered when arranging modules inside an enclosure. When the slice is mounted horizontally, it may be exposed continuously to 60 °C. Vertical mounting reduces the permissible ambient temperature to 50 °C because heat rises less effectively along the connector plane. Adequate spacing and enclosure airflow help keep the module within the applicable temperature limit during continuous switching operation.
