Product Description:
The X20cSLX410 is a safety-oriented module in the X20 Fieldbus Input Output Modules series from B & R Automation. As a safe digital input device, it is installed in machine control cabinets to collect certified on/off signals from protective devices, access gates, and emergency-stop chains. Its role is to evaluate those changing states before hazardous motion can continue, supporting risk reduction in automated cells. Because the module processes discrete signals, it is intended for machine states that must be either enabled or shut down. This makes it suitable for guarding functions on conveyors, presses, robotic fixtures, and other machinery where a predictable response to a changed input state is required.
Its hardware classification is a Safe Digital Input Module, so the channels are internally tested and can detect single faults. The module delivers 24 VDC test power, which connected sensors use for pulse monitoring and line supervision rather than relying on a separate external source. It has 4 pulse outputs that pass those test signals to compatible field devices or downstream safety circuits. This arrangement helps verify wiring continuity and detect certain short-circuit or cross-fault conditions. Built-in logic lets it operate as a Safety Controller, allowing local processing of stop requests and interlock conditions. Safety communication runs over openSAFETY, keeping certified data exchange within the same fieldbus structure.
The module also provides 4 Safe Type A inputs for single-channel protective devices such as guard switches or light curtains. Motion-related monitoring can cover 4 Safemotion axes, so the safety application can interact with drives that report the required status information for functions such as safe stop or limited movement. These resources let one module cover both device-level inputs and axis-related safety participation. Up to 10 safenodes can be coordinated under one slice before another bus segment is required. The unit keeps X20 mechanical dimensions, which helps it fit beside standard and safety modules in the same control layout and preserves a compact cabinet arrangement.
